Buy it here - Blog link here - Recently I was looking for a black-box type camera for insurance and whatever other purposes: fun, memories, valets parking the car, suspicious activity around, etc. After going through several cheap Chinese dashboard cameras I finally found one that I like the most, and just wanted to share the find. It is a $140 dual camera that records what happens in front of the car and inside the car - both at the same time. It records in resolution 960x720 x2 (you get 1920x720 video that includes both camera views). Here is a sample video with several short scenes, starting with a parking lot at a shopping center where I left my Gallardo Spyder and ending with a roar while driving under a tunnel. The sound in the video was also recorded by the camera. The camera detects motion and records 2-5 minute clips on movement, and does this in a loop by erasing older clips. It stores about 1 hour of most recent video clips on an 8 GB micro SDHC memory card (not included), and accepts cards up to 32 GB (which I'm going to try next). Though in practice I cannot find all expected video clips, which I attribute to unreliable design of cheap no-name electronics and software, possibly the camera just doesn't react to motion under some conditions. The camera includes a small monitor where the video being recorded can be viewed, and optionally the monitor turns itself off after 30 seconds while continuing to record. It is not a great product by any means, but I've been waiting for such electronics to improve over the years and finally I fell like they're getting close to something quite usable, while relatively inexpensive.
